The Principals
Charles Nirenberg
Mr. Nirenberg is the General Partner of First Merchants Group, and has been intensively involved in real estate for almost 50 years.
Charles was the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Dairy Mart Convenience Stores. He opened
his first Dairy Mart store in 1958 and built it into
the third largest publicly traded convenience store company in the country
with over 1,200 stores and sales approaching $1 billion annually. He sold his interest in Dairy Marts in December 1995.
He is an active community member serving on the Boards
of The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Massachusetts General
Hospital, Johnson Memorial Hospital, and Hillel International
Board Of Governors. He is a past president of
Beth El Temple Brotherhood and has served on the Boards
of the Jewish Nursing Home, Jewish Federation, and The
Jewish Theological Seminary in New York.
He is a decorated War Veteran, a Mason, a Shriner, and holds an honorary Doctor of Public Service degree from the University Of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Larry Nirenberg
Larry Nirenberg is the Managing Partner of First Merchants
Group and has over 25 years experience in real estate
acquisition, development, leasing, financing and management.
Prior to joining First Merchants Group, Larry was the
head of Leasing and Development for Samuels and Associates,
a Boston-based retail management and development company
with over 4,000,000 square feet of property in the Northeast
and the Midwest. During his tenure, he oversaw the continuing leasing activities for the
entire portfolio, as well as the development and re-development
of over 1,000,000 square feet of retail space.
Prior to his tenure at Samuels and Associates, Larry
spent 12 years in the corporate real estate departments
of Dunkin' Donuts and Toys R Us where his responsibilities
included site identification, acquisition, permitting
and development of store locations.
He serves on the Development Board of Nuestra Communidad, a non-profit Community Development Corporation serving the needs of low income families in the Roxbury and Dorchester sections of Boston. Additionally, he serves as a volunteer for the New England Organ Bank speaking to groups in support of organ donation and is a member of the Advisory Council for the Child Psychiatry Department at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
Gregg Sapere
Gregg Sapere is a Partner of First Merchants Group and is responsible for the Development and Leasing activities of the company. He brings over 30 years of experience in real estate acquisition, development, and sales to the partnership.
Prior to joining First Merchants Group, Mr. Sapere was President of L&G Investment Group. His company was an exclusive agent for Blockbuster Video Stores in Connecticut and Massachusetts and developed several locations for CVS Pharmacy in Southern New England. Before the formation of L&G, Gregg was Director of Real Estate at Dairy Mart Convenience Stores for the northeast region, responsible for overseeing site acquisition and development, lease renewals and leasing/disposition of excess properties. Gregg began his real estate career with his own residential real estate company, Jamestown Real Estate, which he operated for ten years.
Gregg was past President of the Wilbraham/Hampden Rotary Club, a Director of the Wilbraham Nature and Culture Center, and serves on the finance committee of Grace Union Church of Wilbraham, Massachusetts. |
